Hello, Older Twin!
Welcome. You're here because you are an adventurer at heart. Westward Invasion 2009 is a one-time-only emigration and travel opportunity headed by me. I'm moving to California and taking as many people with me as possible.
You don't have to be an Emigrant. You don't even have to be an Adventurer, although that's a great way to participate in Westward Invasion without actually relocating.
If you live in the West, you can be a Host. Show us around for a day. *Currently seeking a couch in Las Vegas. Please email me at willconley777 at gmail dot com if you can put me and a friend up for a day or two.*
If you don't want to or can't come along, you can be a Dispatcher. The Dispatch Team will join this network like everyone else, keep in touch with the Emigrants and Adventurers and Hosts, alert us to any foul weather or interesting events we should divert our route for, and otherwise get your virtual on.
Sponsors? Any sponsors out there? You're on-board too. Join this network. Westward Invasion 2009 is going to be blogged and vlogged by all who wish to do so. Product placements, advertising, whatever you want, we'll work it out. *Please contact me at willconley777 at gmail dot com if you want product placements or ad placements as I blog/vlog/tweet this on http://willconley.posterous.com*
I'm glad you're all here. Talk to me. This Westward Invasion is getting started half a year late, but by God, we're doing it. It is now official.
Okay, Will, got your e-mail. Clearly, I'm up for the yoga class in The Woodlands, since I mentioned it in passing & here it is all marked with a bus. Here's my further undeveloped idea so *everyone* feel free to help it take shape. I'm clearly a fan of this Internet and many of its better applications (I'll leave that vague: fill in the blank to your liking). But I still *really* like gettting mail. Wherever I've lived, I know what time the mail ... [read more]
Hey there Elianne :) Glad to know a fellow traveler.
Hi Molly! Hey people: Molly is awesome. Just FYI :)
Glad you joined up here, Jim. More info forthcoming.
Falconspacestudio is what I call my altar to creativity + home office here in El Cerrito, in the East Bay hills overlooking San Francisco Bay. You're welcome to come by and visit. Who knows what may be happening by then?
Thanks for the welcome, Will! Glad to be here :)
O Fierce Invaders, As of tonight, we have a core of approximately 20 people that have expressed an interest in Westward Invasion 2009 by joining this network. No matter what happens - whether we all end up going West and it ends up being a ridiculous success and we all become fast friends - or the whole thing just kind of fizzles and it ends up being me and some of my favorite pocket lint keeping me company - I am excited to be taking a big risk ... Hey Sarah, noticed you added a Fire icon to the Google Map for Burning Man, well done I say.
You made it, rawk! Ladies and gentlemen, a fire spinner has joined our midst.
Lindsay, welcome to the core of people who are interested in this project. It's gonna be a blast.
Hey B, is the interface working for youo yet re: changing profile? It says you changed your profile, but I dunno if you were able to change your photo like you said you wanted.
The biggest hurdle of Burning Man, for a lot of people, is the cost. Tix are $300, and they don't sell them at the gate anymore, so it's lacking in spontaneity. Getting there ain't cheap, either, cost of gas being what it is. I have a personal plan already. My journey starts in Minneapolis on Aug 28th and ends back there on Sept 9th. We're going through Yellowstone on the way there, and probably Salt Lake City on the way back. My teeny tiny renta... [read more]
Ladies and germs, the winner of best profile data so far: Dan Thurston of Auckland, New Zealand!
After the frogs ejects you from his system, maybe you can go home to the Bay Area with this crowd!
Well I won't be able to make the trip, but maybe I can help in other ways... I'll promote the trip whenever possible, and encourage you all along the way!
I think we can wrap Burning Man into this somehow. That would be great for those who want to participate. Anybody wanna go to Burning Man? Sarah here is going. My friend Jeremy in New York City is going too...I should get him on here. And just to be clear, since everyone can see this comment, West '09 is all about partaking as much or as little as you want. Long as we talk to each other everything'll be jakey.
Welcome to the place Sharon! Poke around, read the Intro I wrote, especially the Cult of Done Manifesto (which I cribbed from Bre Pettis). You're going in May, others are going later in the year, but what matters is we're all about going West. Word.
Yeah, baby, woo! So glad you're here. You're a big thinker. Whatever happens happens, from here on out.
Always count on bonnie William for an adventure. :) I would love to see if there's a way to get this folded into my Burning Man travel, but that's going to be a fairly direct route. Anything is possible.
Hey Sarah :) I had a feeling you'd be interested in this. Burning Man, awesome.
Also, must add: I do not agree that cold winters blow! I love them! Ok, now I can continue being a part of everything.
